Saint Bakhita:

St. Bakhita is the patron Saint for enslaved and trafficked individuals.  She was born in 1869 and sold into slavery at age 8.  She endured being a slaved, sold and traded, for the next 12 years.  As a result of her being sold as chattel, she came to Italy.  There, a court ruled she was free.  She joined Canossian Sisters in Venice where she became a member. When speaking of her enslavement, she often professed she would thank her kidnappers. For had she not been kidnapped, she might never have come to know Jesus Christ and entered His Church.
